Pricing
Pintail is planned at €15 once, with 100 free read-outs to try it. The voice runs on your own OpenRouter account, usually between half a cent and 2 cents per reply.
What €15 once gets you
This is the plan. Pintail isn’t on sale yet.
- A license key by email. It works offline.
- Up to 3 of your Macs. Moving to a new Mac frees a spot.
- Updates, inside the app.
- No subscription and no account. You pay once.
What counts as a read-out?
The trial is 100 free read-outs. A read-out counts once a reply actually made a sound. Replaying it, asking for more and skipping around are free. If you install it and don’t use it for a while, your trial waits for you.
What the voice costs
Pintail doesn’t sell credits. The voice runs on your own OpenRouter account, and you pay OpenRouter for what you use. I measured it in September 2026:

A spoken summary is usually a few hundred characters, so a reply costs about half a cent to 2 cents. Fifty replies a day at a cent each is 50 cents. OpenRouter also lists free voices with daily limits.

What the summary costs
On macOS 26 the summary is written on your Mac with Apple Intelligence, for free. If you’d rather use a cloud model, it runs on your OpenRouter account too. For a reply of about 3,000 characters at the Detailed level:

Put together: a Detailed reply with Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite and the Voxtral voice costs about 1.5 ¢. With Claude Haiku 4.5, about 3 ¢. Models that reason before they answer are too slow to speak: 8 to 30 seconds before the first word.

Does it use my Claude tokens?
No. The summary is written outside the agent, and voice commands you type in the prompt never reach it. Your Claude plan pays for coding, not for listening.
